Thursday… t+44

I have just been up to London for another check-up at Guy’s with the lovely Linny, and a medical student (whose name I didn’t get – Liz?). No much to report really. The problems of last week, while not fully resolved, seem to be getting better, and it is too soon for any signs of GvHd to be appearing, so the next time I go up will be in three weeks, unless anything dramatic happens in the meantime!

My sense of taste is showing signs of waking up, and interestingly, so is my sense of smell. The latter is a mixed blessing, however, because at the moment everything smells like hospital food! You know, that hot steamy, overheated, overboiled smell that turns the appetite right off. And it isn’t only just food that smells like that, most things seem to, so I hope this phase passes quickly! As for taste, well, everything seems peppery, but it is early days yet!

Next task is to order some wines for Christmas – I just hope I will be able to do them justice!

So, Onwards and Upwards!

The European Court decision will cramp your style, but I like pepper and if you use it on what may be thought of as desserts (like strawberries) it brings out the sweetness.

I am not sure that I can keep everything crossed for another three weeks so am I allowed to just focus on fingers for the time being?

Try to have a great weekend.

    Hi Peter

I’ve just been reading about the Patientline scam. My father’s in Bournemouth Hospital right now, had yet another replacement hip, and he’s got one of these numbers. If I ring off peak its 39 p/min, but it takes about a minute of pre-recorded twaddle before it puts me through to him. Seethe!

Richard – I agree – ground black pepper on cheddar strawberries – absolutely divine (or they will be when my taste returns – having just not enjoyed some bacon – it wasn’t unpleasant – just didn’t taste of anything.

    You are excused crossing duties!

Gabor – I guessed they might pull a stunt like that! They really are a bunch of systers – in fact I will ammend my post to reflect your comments. On a completely unrelated note, Roo wonders if you would like to listen to “The Ashbys” – another young Winchester band. Don’t know what they are like!

Glad your check-up went okay and you didn’t have to resort to the overnight bag again.

Have fun choosing all that wine!

My check-up on Monday – that time of year again. Michael’s 21st party tomorrow – can you believe it?!

    Lots of love,
    Liz
