Sunday… battening down the hatches?

TreeCertainly the weather forecast is not very good, and we have had some strong winds both this afternoon and last night – with more to come! I expect the blossom on this tree may be gone by morning! However, no power cuts (yet?) so we will see what the evening brings.

However the main reason for this post is just to pop up another photo of Olivia. It is a couple of weeks since I last posted one, and even in a couple of weeks I think you will see some change in her! She isn’t always quite as placid as the photograph might indicate, although as I write this, she has been asleep for about 3 hours!

OliviaWe had a visit from university friend Tom, and his wife Carol, yesterday! Good to seee them again, we shared a flat and house for 3 years, and still remain friends (as with the two medics that we shared with. Somehow (?) Tom is of the opinion that I am eating lots of bacon at the moment (can’t think why) so he kindly brought a get well present of bacon and sausages! They were delicious for brunch today! Tom also remarked that I looked a lot better than when he last saw me, about a month ago, so it must be true!

Richard started a trend a couple of weeks ago with his sock images, so I thought I’d add mine to the collection – Feet and here they are!

Finally, remember that the blog is best viewed using something like Opera or Firefox. You can download Firefox with the Google task bar from the button at the top of the page, or get Opera and basic Firefox from the links on the right. Both are excellent (free) alternatives to Internet Explorer.

Onwards and Upwards – and Happy Mothering Sunday to all mothers!

Just caught up with all your news. My parents arrived on Thursday and they send their love.

Sounds as if Thursday went quite well, and when David goes to Washington next month, he’ll try to see if he can find out more on the old acai front.

Lovely piccie of Olivia. I liked the one of the tree too. Can’t say I’ve ever been into pictures of socks before, though! However, now you’ve finished in the garage, maybe you should get into sock design!

Hope the wind didn’t do any damage and that you didn’t have to try out “gennie”.

    Lots of love,
    Liz

    Peter,
Glad your visit to Guy’s went well. Regarding ACAI, I know a bit about it as my wife is Brazilian and of course it is a big deal there. I won’t comment on likelihood of beneficial effect, but did you know you can buy a commercially produced ACAI based drink in Waitrose? My wife buys it, although I have never tried it.
    All the best, John Martin

Thank you John – no, I didn’t know about that – I have only seen some of the freeze dried products that are available on the internet.

Hope to be in to see you all before too long.

Strong winds? Hardly more than a slight breeze I would have thought, or perhaps it wasn’t the pilot throwing the plane around for fun as we came in to land at Southampton Sunday evening then???

Sorry to be so late with viewing your blog, Peter, but I have been away! a) at Keswick at the literary festival (I wish I had Shirley Williams’ social a-political talk on tape). Due to the snow in the Lakes, the hills looked wonderful, all grey and white at different depths, as opposed to varying greens; and b) to a training session in Worcester. They were 2 very good days.
However, I’m boasting that I have twin grand-nephews, 2 wks old, doing fine, and I’ve seen them! So Olivia has competition in my thoughts on babies!

Sorry about the above reptition, but I was trying to correct it, so the last version is the one to keep!

Duplicates deleted, and congratulations on the grand nephews! Send me a picture and I’ll post them on your blog! Delighted that the training went well!

Hi Peter- don’t know if you remember me – one of Anne’s friends from Sutton Grammar- think back – way way back to the 1970’s – Bay City Rollers – and all that- talking to Anne a few days ago – it is amazing when you start to talk about it how it all seems like yesterday. What makes it really funny is that our children – know lots of the songs from that era.
R U now a granddad? Sorry haven’t read all of your blog-.
Me , my mum and my son now live in Woking – there are perhaps nicer areas in Surrey – but it serves us well due to the railway line- London 23 minutes. We also go down every 4 years to the Festival of the Sea at pompie- have you been- I remember telling some American sailors who were with Nato – that in fact the harbour waters of pompie always looked the azure blue that they did on that day. feel pretty alarmed at the actions of Iran- what do you think?

Hope all is well with you. Glad things appear to be going OK. Trust you are keeping out of trouble!
