Easter Sunday

And to repeat the last blog greeting – Happy Easter everyone! The sun is shining brightly down here – it is a lovely day – almost BBQ weather!

However the real reason for this post is to draw your attention to a new comment on The PatientLine Scam post. I have just released this from the moderation queue and is from ‘bleeper’ who is a (disillusioned!) patientLine employee. You can read the full text of his comments at the link above, but basically he is saying that our reading of the announcement was correct – concessions for the over 65 (half price TV) have been abolished, and that in addition to hiking the cost of an outbound call from 10p/min to 26p/min, the connection charge (or minimum amount payable) has doubled from 20p to 40p, and this charge is levied (as before) regardless of whether the call is answered or not. As he says, the press release was very economical with the truth.

John also asked (in his blog) if I had insider information! the answer is no (apart from comments such as Bleepers)! However there are lots of snippets around. This Link (again to the BBC) indicated that the total ban on mobile phones in some hospitals was more the result of pressure from companies providing bedside telephone services rather than for technical considerations. I did make a comment about that in my original post, although that was more speculation from a cynical and suspicious mind (with a bit of technical insght)! However, would you want to be hooked up to potentially life saving monitoring and diagnostic equipment if it was so easily disrupted by a mobile phone signal?

Anyway – enough of PatientLine (you haven’t come back to me with thoughts about a PaytientLine – or other name – blog) and it is time to go and find some food! Food is still tricky, apart from the sore throat and mouth, my mouth is still quite dry, however I am almost getting to enjoy the food supplements! With a bit of careful chemistry, and the right ingredients, half a pint of milk can be persuaded to give over 1000 Calories!

But never mind – Onwards and Upwards!

A Patientlie Blog would be fun. Probably most hits on the web in no time at all.
I wonder whether there will be any pressure put on them to repay the money they were given from the government to help them install the stuff. I very much doubt it!!

I would not put you down as having a cynical and suspicious mind, although it does pay dividends to be that way today.

Good to hear the GVHD is trying its best to get going although the thought of having to return to slurping away on Candishakes and Build-Up Soups (is there actually one that is anywhere near palletable?) doesn’t make me want to go back there.

    See Ya!!

Good to have your update, Peter. Re: Patientline and costs – I have no experience of this feature, and find the whole thing anti-patient care. I wonder what “Watchdog” would say about this – anyone feeling tough to try?
Onwards and Upwards, and enjoy the supplements – yeuk! L’n’Hs, E

Did you hear over the holiday that Leeds have been researching the formula for the perfect bacon sandwich?
I thought it should have been last weekend (01 04) but no, I hear this morning that it is being covered in the Nationals today.
From what I have heard today and over the hols on R4 is that it should be back bacon (agreed) smoked or green (well hardly a definitive formula if there is choice), sauces ( agreed but more choice 🙂 ) and that it is the crunch that makes it work….perhaps…….BUT they said DANISH………DANISH……how could they? I have no problem admitting that Danish bacon can be good, often too much water for me, but the BEST is local BRITISH approved by the butcher’s Bulldog. A fit and discriminating dog if now much affected by the Kennel Club’s approach to breed standards.
Off to cook mine with chestnut mushrooms, home made baked beans and cooked tomatoes, perhaps some HP.

    Dibble not drivel 🙂

I did see that report – I think it was in The Telegraph over the weekend! Groundbreaking stuff (I think not!)

Agree with you about the bacon – nothing like some thick cut British bacon (and in the days when the butcher would slice the bacon for you on demand, I seem to remember that we always had our bacon sliced on “number 6 please”).

Elspeth – I did wonder about watchdog – might take a while though. I am still tempted by a blog linked to a domain name though! No votes yet for which one! The supplements aren’t that bad (and I never thought I would say that!)

I think bacon and mushrooms on a slice of bread (a half sandwich) this morning – while I watch the birds tuck in to their breakfast.

Speaking of buds (not beer you understand :)) I have some ‘sticky buds’ in a vase for my grandson and it is amazing how much flower they can produce from the sugars left in the stem.

    Paytientcrime gets my vote too.

    Which of course it is!

Adrian – I shall look forward to it!

Richard and Neil – PaytientCrime is up and running (I see you have commented!)
