Tuesday – check-up time

I started back at work yesterday with a drive up to Corsham, and then drove back again for an early train trip to London, for both a haematology check up and a lung function test.

There was a small problem in that the appointment was on the hospital system, however the clinic wasn’t that busy, so I was soon in to have the customary armful of blood removed and in to see Dr Raj. They remain very pleased with my progress, and my next check up is now scheduled for 4 months! It would have been a longer interval still, but for the fact that I am still having the ECP, and while that is treating the skin and ffasciitis, it can occasionally cause a flare up of GvHd in other areas. I was also reminded that the chemo can predispose me towards other cancers, particular skin cancers, so I should be aware of that. (But in perspective, if it doubles the risk, then it doubles it from one in a very large number to 1 in a not such a large number. I also saw my favourite dietitian, Rachel, who noted that my weight is now just over 11Stone (70 Kg) and the strength of my grip is almost back to normal!

The lung function test was unremarkable, and the results looked good, although I didn’t have the comparison with previous tests to see what the trend is.

After leaving Guy’s I went back to Westminster for a meeting, and then travelled home – and I am now back in Corsham.

So a good day – and it seems that progress continues – Onwards and Upwards!

Gillian those designer bags like the Volpino are serious money.

My list is not yet formulated, a place on FaceBook might provide some amusement.

Peter needs a new apostrophe for Pimm.

Let us know your wish list………

Thinking about it overnight…………..the obvious things are for Peter to have continued progress and Simon the get a green flag and the all clear.

  10. Peter on 03 Oct 2009 at 10:23 am #

Yes, that would certainly suit me! 🙂 There are a few other people I would wish that for as well, and not just Simon..

  11. Gillian on 05 Oct 2009 at 8:57 pm #

Now, how are we going to get that into a stocking……??

  12. Richard on 06 Oct 2009 at 7:14 am #

Gillian. Not sure about your stockings but I have used a pillowcase for years as it makes larger presents more acceptable.

For Peter, Simon and the Others I guess we’ll just have to have virtual stocking (or pillowcases) and I hope that virtual stockings will not let your legs get cold what with Winter getting nearer.

Another present for Peter might be passing his medical to start diving again. Soon we’ll have a list that is achievable as well as desirable, digits crossed again. Not toes for you as that may snag the stockings.

  13. Peter on 06 Oct 2009 at 8:59 am #

Well the green flag for Simon would roll up and go into a stocking! But yes, pillowcases were good! Now we tend to open presents from under the tree!

  14. Richard on 06 Oct 2009 at 11:13 am #

Is that the tree that you cut the Yule Log from?

  15. Gillian on 06 Oct 2009 at 9:17 pm #

Now everyone knows that a yule log is made from chocolate!

You lot must have been very spoiled (or greedy!) to have pillowcases instead of stockings – some of us were lucky to have a sock, and the satsuma filled up most of that!

  16. richard on 06 Oct 2009 at 9:44 pm #

Satsuma? Just pip when I was small (er) and that had been sucked first.

Anyway my Mother looked odd wearing the pillowcases to the Home and Colonial to get the satsuma to extract the pip………..clearly too much wine tonight.

  17. Gillian on 06 Oct 2009 at 9:49 pm #

obviously the old GMT sounds ringing in your ears, not a satsuma pip

Not until the 25th Gillian x
