Monday… Memories are made of this!

Busy week again last week, but the highlight was last weekend when we traveled up to St Annes for a re-union with my flat mates, Martin, Tom and Jon, from University. Two medical students, a dental student and myself in first a Hall of Residence (where we met) then a University flat, and finally a privately rented house!

We have met up individually over the years, and kept in touch, but this was the first time all four of us had got together pretty much since we graduated. and with our other halves! I suppose one reason is that with children growing up, it has been difficult to co-ordinate a weekend away, but now they are grown up, there are fewer pressures.

It was a great weekend – the years rolled away, memories were revived and exploits re-lived, and we slipped into our old personas, but the nicest thing was that we talked about the intermediate times and the present, it wasn’t just nostalgia, and that to me is the sign of enduring friendship, and people I could (can and have) relied on when the going gets tough. And it was interesting to discuss how we saw each other in those days, and see how things have turned out. And far more that just un recherche du temps perdu!

And so the food was eaten (thank you Stephanie) and the wine flowed and we mellowed and chilled!

We drove back last night, and then today it was back to reality – or in my case up to St Thomas’s for another session of ECP!

So an excellent weekend, and one that we have resolved to repeat again in the not too distant future! guys and also Stephanie, Elaine, Carol and Felicity!

Onwards and upwards!

I thought it was said “if you can remember you weren’t there”………still it sounds like a good weekend………one to remember 🙂

    ECP, trusting all is well.

    now, back to the presents

Do you mean ‘the past’ Gillian? Things one said always seem to be remembered as wittier than the things one might say next……….

Time for a cold Peter then we can send Gillian round with the Vic. No that sounds a little too ambiguous as it might mean that the infection is serious and she is coming round with the Vicar. 🙂

The local RC priest is called Vic, so obviously has become Father Vic and clearly getting into the role plays and sings in a local folk band. Brains, conviction and talent….enough to make, well enough said.

Have a great weekend and think of Gillian with the Vic (hope she likes folk music)

May go quiet for some time as we are off to Barcelona to see relations who are over from Australia, long story.

The ECP is getting to be routine! Ah yes – the visiting Vicar – shades of January ’07! Don’t think we’ll go there!

How far you’ve come for the ECP to be just routine!

Hola Richard! Definitely presents – online xmas shopping needs to be done early to avoid the postal delays

Enjoy the vinho tinto and jerez!

    xx

I know that I have been a bit (well quite a lot really) of a petrol head in the past but we are going to Barcelona not Jerez! Good fun though it might be.

Tonight was a Mama Mia night with a neighbour. This means ladies singing along and the blokes sampling Greek wine..actually very strong and cheap from Tescos………with Greek food and lots of laughs, mainly at the men’s expense I’m afraid. Who would have thought that an ABBA based musical could come to symbolise female liberation?

Still we men can drown our sorrows and not that I am home can put Smokey’s Electric Proms on Beeb 2 :0

Off tomorrow………I’ll take a cup or two with you.

Welcome back Richard! Sounds like fun! I have been to Madrid in January – and sat out in shirt sleeves during the day – and wrapped up in a thick coat at night!

Been a bit manic here, but I will try and update today or tomorrow!
