Thursday… t+48

Two days after the chemo and no obvious ill effects, other than the fact that my slowly recovering taste buds and sense of smell seem to have taken another hit! However I did have some cheese at lunch time (I used to love cheese!) and I could taste it for the first time since the radiotherapy, so maybe taste buds are battling through! I have been going to work this week, although not for very long – the run up to Christmas is always quiet, and although there have been some social events, common sense has prevailed and I have decided not to push the boundaries too far!

It has been cold and frosty too, and like the rest of the country we have had some freezing fog, a good excuse to rack up the heating, power on the underfloor heating in the conservatory (so gald I did that – just don’t think about the meter!) and watch the world go by!

And I can’t let the fact that it is 11 months since the transplant go without comment! I’m not sure I would have expected to be having chemo again – so annoying after the summer when we must have been close to beating it, but we have a plan – just need it to come to fruition!

No news on the baby front – things seem to have quietened down and Vicki was released from hospital for bed rest at home – every day that goes by is a bonus for the baby’s development, so fingers crossed there too.

I have changed the theme of the blog again, while the other one was good, it had some incompatabilities with some versions of Internet Explorer – this one seems a bit better, although there may be a little more tweaking to do!

So on a positive note, we will continue onwards and upwards!

Try this for your taste buds.

It’s Pimm’s O’clock, yes really so will not be too compos mentis. Just left Waitrose (much lighter wallet) with a Pimm’s number 3 cup, Winter Pimm’s 🙂

    Crossed eyes at least.

It sounds cosy in your house. Our pilot light on the boiler hasjust given up the ghost, so we have no heating – just in time for Christmas! Got someone here now trying to fix it, but there maybe no joy intil tomorrow!

    Lots of love,
    Liz

Know the feeling Liz. The three way valve on our heating refuses to go to heating automatically. Early start for the engineer (who he ??) but I do not want to have it fiddled with before Christmas, just in case of more complications.

Try Winter Pimm’s its good and warming and helps you ignore irritations, like plumbing and insurance……….

Driving is becoming increasing difficult with legs crossed (not not for that reason!) so hurry up Peter or I will have to buy an automatic.

My neighbour has shot off to Scotland (where they have another house http://www.inveraraypier.com/tv.html just to the right of the tall Sheriff’s House not a good place to be if the sea level goes up by a couple of metres ) so has not passed on the message to her friend as I notice she has not taken her laptop with her. ) Her husband is being treated for bone cancer following treatment for prostrate cancer, hence the early break to Scotland to get some quiet before Hogmanay.

If not posting have a wonderful (and warm) Christmas.

Inverary looks idyllic! I hope they enjoy Hogmanay. Not sure what to suggest about the three way valve, it might just be the motor, in which case you can get a replacement from somewhere like PlumbCentre – it takes about 10 minutes to fit – and doesn’t need to have the plumbing disturbed! Alternatively you can always move the manual lever so it is permanently on heating – which sounds a much better plan!

Pilot light on the boiler – sounds like the thermocouple… Noo doubt the DHA will get it fixed by next June!

Thank Peter. I think the problem is that when it goes to heating it is meant to lock in that position until the solenoid lifts it into another phase. But the little protuberance is broke so we are in the pull the leaver mode, only a problem if very cold over night. Pimm’s helps here too. lost of it and red wine means a heavy sleep and early wake for the bathroom. Up……turn on the heating…….problem solved.

    Hey ho.

Broken protuberances can be very unpleasant and tricky to fix!
