Sunday… Christmas Eve!

A quick pre-Christmas update and some results of food research, thanks to Mark (fellow blogmaster) and Sue who hosted a pre-Christmas Dinner Party last night! I am delighted to report that Smoked Salmon and Prawns, washed down with Champagne, tasted absolutely marvellous! Sadly more aromatic hot foods and wine were less good for the taste buds, although vegetables are fine, so I will be enjoying my sprouts tomorrow!

On the pudding front, Caroline’s treacle sponge was heavenly. Cheese was mixed, again aromatic soft cheeses were less successful, especially Camembert, but Stilton was surprisingly good, as was Brie! However, good though the food was, it was the company that made it, so thank you Mark & Sue, a great evening!

I seem to be taking a leaf out of John’s blog with this emphasis on food, but I do normally enjoy my food, so the assault on my taste and smell is particularly galling. However I’m sure it won’t stop me enjoying the day.

I will post tomorrow, but I know it is a busy family day, so may I take this opportunity of thanking you all for your support in the last year, and can I wish you all…

A Very Happy and Peaceful Christmas

Onwards and upwards!

But will we be allowed to look tomorrow. I have no drink to look forward to as I have to taxi my Father to and fro………eventually probably about 10.00. sorry 2200 hours for your military types, I shall be clear and able to sample some of my gifts which are strangely bottle-shaped if they are not wine etc.

Don’t stay up too late, you will frighten Santa way, put out a little sherry or whisky for the ol’ boy and some biscuits for the reindeer, not too many though or they will not continue on their journey and may miss me.

    Have a very Merry Christmas.

You can look forward to socks, hankies, ties and shirts galore. We have a mantra for Christmas day, “the receipt is in the bag if you’re not grateful……….”

Ahhh yes the job of food sampling can be a somewhat arduous task i know. But hey, It’ll all be worth it in the end. I found some strange combinations whilst doing it like cheese and jam sandwiches and also the real strong need to plaster all roast dinners with copious ammounts of Mint Sauce.. I’m glad though that the love of tinned prunes didn’t last too long for reasons you can probably work out yourself though!!

What a fantastic photo of you and I’m so pleased your slowly bringing your tastebuds back into play. If you fancy it (although I know it sounds awful) our family special is (don’t laugh) “Jam & Chip” butties – its devine and I really mean that. Butter the bread with jam, cover and put in the fridge overnight. Then when your ready to eat, place some hot chunky chips inside … urm!!!

I had a very successful 12 for Crimbo dinner and it was great being with my family again and yes the traditional sprouts but coupled with the mushy peas from Xmas eve was a little unfair on the others.

Enjoy the festive season and lets hope for a prosperous and healthy 2007. Lots of love and thinking of you.

    See you for some TTT
