Tuesday… This is Houston, we don’t think so…
Sep 5th 2006PeterGetting My Life Back!
I have just heard from Guy’s (thank you Rob) with the results from last Thursday’s fine needle aspiration of the lump on my neck. It did initially look a bit suspicious, but it appears that the lymph cells are T cells and not the B cells that are characteristic of my type of lymphoma, indicating that it is reactive tissue. In addition, my blood chemistry was OK with no markers (particularly an enzyme called LDH) present which might have indicated a problem.
However, mantle cell lymphomas are strange things, (and it is difficult to prove a negative) so as a double check, the plan is to remove the swollen lymph node and give it a good staring at under the microscope. So on Friday I have an outpatient appointment at the ENT clinic at Guy’s, with a view to getting me under the knife and get it removed. I did do a bit of research on types of cells – there is an interesting site here and I have also added it to the links on the right.
I have had a lymph node removed on the other side, so I will have a matching scar – or matching bolt holes!
Onwards and Upwards!
